SMATTER Magazine is a general interest publication founded in New York City in 2025.

We live by the supposition that we are in an era that is uniquely stupid: cultural refuse is ubiquitous and inescapable; amplified hysterical viewpoints fragment the public discourse; and empirical observation is no longer considered a legitimate basis for fact.

SMATTER Magazine seeks to provide an antidote to the maelstrom of forces corroding our intellectual life and civic commons. By applying rigor and curiosity to a wide range of subjects, we hope to encourage dialogue between differing viewpoints.

By encouraging the writer to follow their interests, we hope that they will become the finest versions of themselves. And by treating even the most serious subjects with intelligent irreverence and levity, we hope to heal psychic wounds in a culture that is verging on septic.
